What is Reiki?
Reiki (ray-key) means Universal Life Force Energy - the primal life force energy that surrounds and interpenetrates all of creation and is guided by the highest spiritual source.
Reiki is a healing technique developed in Kyoto, Japan by Mikao Usui, a Japanese educator with an extensive background in philosophy, religion and metaphysics after he experienced enlightenment while meditating on Mount Kurama in 1922.
Reiki balances, energizes, and harmonizes all systems in the body. It reduces pain and stress and promotes natural self-healing.
Reiki is a complete system of self-healing, as well as healing for others.
Healing in a Reiki session is determined by the recipient. The power for healing lies within the individual. Reiki energy is drawn through the practitioner by the recipient's cells. The practitioner acts as a conduit for the Universal Life Force. The practitioner's own energy is not used.
Reiki is done with hands on or near the body. It can be used anywhere, at anytime.
Reiki can be used with people, plants, animals, situations, and things.
Reiki is learned from a Reiki Master Teacher, using a series of attunements. Attunements amplify and fine-tune the body's energy field to a higher vibratory level. Attunements give form and structure to our innate capacity to heal.
No faith or belief is required to give or receive Reiki. It bridges all religions and cultures. Reiki can be learned by anyone --- no special skills or abilities are needed.
Reiki complements and enhances all other forms of healing.
Reiki is a powerful tool for personal growth and transformation.
